The 20th New York (abbreviated 20thNY) is an Online Gaming Group that was born out of the desire for organization in the up and coming game: War Of Rights (Abbreviated WOR).
War Of Rights is a First Person shooter video game that is set in the American Civil War, specifically: 1862. The 20thNY is one of many organized groups (a.k.a. regiments) in War Of Rights that competes in informal competitions against other organized Regiments for bragging rights and for pride as a group. These competitions we like to call "events" or "battles" because they simulate an encounter between the forces of the North and the South in 1862 and they are a fun event that takes place multiple times per week.
War Of Rights places emphasis on staying in a formation of some sort with your fellow players who are on your team. If you are by yourself, you are at a major disadvantage because War Of Rights is programmed in such a way as to punish people who go it alone. If someone is on their own, their character is considered "Out-Of-Line" by the algorithm and: has less overall stamina, recovers his stamina slower, doesn't recover health, is super vulnerable to suppression -which is the effect where your screen loses color and/or blacks out for a second and you hear the sound similar to that of a ringing in the ears accompanied by muffled in-game noises, has a longer rifle-sway time when aiming to shoot, and worst of all: is worth 5 times the ammount of team Morale when they die.
If someone is in a small group and/or is spread out a little from the group, they are considered "Skirmishing" by the game's algorithm and: has a moderate amount of overall stamina, recovers his stamina at a moderate rate, is somewhat resistant to suppression, doesn't recover health, has a moderate rifle-sway time, and is now only worth 3 times the team Morale when they die. When your character is in a large group of other players in close proximity, they are considered "In-Formation" by the game's algorithm and: has the maximum amount of overall stamina possible, does recover health slowly, is super resistant to suppression, has a pretty short rifle-sway time, and is only worth the regular amount of team Morale when they die.
Being in the 20th New York allows for players to be in a large organized group that places emphasis more on what is better for winning the battle than on stringent line formation and officer bureaucracy. Which then opens the door for the player to experience the full aspects of how the game was meant to be played without internet trolls or unorganized chaos on the battlefield.
